Self-evaluation of schools ceases to be a part of compulsory school documentation and is no more binding for the Czech School Inspectorate (CSI). Its form and content will no longer be centrally prescribed.
Training for basic education of foreigners, particularly language learning (i.e. Czech), will also be provided to children of foreigners from third countries.
School heads will be appointed for 6 years (fixed-term contract) within competitive proceedings. In the absence of competitive proceedings, the term will be extended by another 6 years. New conditions for the dismissal of school heads are also introduced.
Nursery schools in the Czech Republic can be founded by both public authorities and private bodies. If a founder of a nursery school decides to limit the enrolment to the school to children of its own employees or to those of another employer, such a school cannot be called a nursery school. This type of school will not have to meet the same operational conditions as traditional nursery schools.
Education remains free of charge during the last year of nursery school. Repetition of the last year, however, is no longer free. Preparatory class of basic school remains free of charge.
Admission examinations for secondary school have changed: The number of possible applications per student was reduced from 3 to 2. Applications to upper secondary education no longer include the output assessment issued during the last year of lower secondary education. After the admission examination, school heads have 3 days to assess their candidates. The submission deadline for enrollment declarations, through which admitted pupils confirm their decision to start studying at a particular school, is extended from 5 to 10 working days.
In upper secondary schools, the maximum number of weekly hours for vocational training or practice is extended from 35 to 40 hours.
